District Employment and Counseling Centre Samba
The new District of Samba has been carved out of the erstwhile Jammu District during the year 2007-2008 and become a full fledged District since April 2007, District Employment & Counselling Centre(DE&CC) Samba has also started functioning independently. It has its own office at National Highway moving towards District Office Complex Nandni Hills, Samba.
The Employment Department performs following functions:-
- Registration of unemployed youths.
- Implementation of J&K State Self Employment Scheme (JKSSES)*.
- Implementation of Voluntary Service Allowance (VSA) Scheme*.
- Formation of “Self Help Group” of unemployed Degree/Diploma engineering holders.
- Career Counselling.
- Collection of Employment Market Information.
DG&T, Government of India has conveyed that District Employment & Counselling Centre, Samba is being transformed as Model Career Centre(MCC). The main purpose of establishment of the Model Career Centre is to counsel and guide the workforce into more productive and meaningful economic activities, to pursue meaningful careers and will connect the youth with job opportunities in a transparent and effective manner through the use of technology as well as through counselling and training.
Recently the Directorate General of Employment & Training, Government of India, has launched a unified Portal for registration of the unemployed youth under National Career Services (NCS) which shall act as an effective link between the unemployed youth and the employers through out the nation.
